Sessions

Mornings:     Monday to Thursday 9.15am to 12.15 pm and Friday 8.30am - 12.45pm  3 - 5 year olds.

Afternoons:  Monday to Thursday 1.00pm to 3.30 pm. 4½ - 5 year olds
All Day: Subject to availability for children 4 years 5 months - 5 years of age.  

Morning session: 34 children and 4 qualified teachers

Children arrive and settle. They choose where to play, with teachers extending and supporting children's choices.

10.00am  Children are welcomed at our mat time and enjoy music, movement, a story and a prayer.  Morning tea.  Grace is sung. Children bring their own morning tea.

Afternoon session: 14 children and 2 qualified teachers
The afternoon sessions provide a basis for the transition to school with a smaller number of children than the morning session.

1.00pm  Children arrive and settle.

1.30pm  Mat time is an opportunity for children to become confident in a small group by, introducing themselves, sharing news, engaging in brain gym, music and movement experiences, experiments, dramatic play and stories.

2.00pm Activities during the session are focussed on developing children’s fine motor skills in readiness for school.  Pre literacy and pre maths skills are encouraged through activities.  Our ratio enables teachers to spend time with children to support their learning.

3.00pm. The children and teachers tidy up, followed by afternoon tea and a story before being collected at 3.30pm.

In 2008 Uplands opted into the government 20 hours ECE scheme for 3 and 4 year olds.  To find out the optional fee, which covers our additional services over and above what the government requires, please contact our Head Teacher.
